Charter or Flotilla yacht

Once you’ve passed your Day Skipper course you will be keen to put your new skills into practice. Often our students opt to go on a flotilla for their first holiday sailing alone.

A flotilla is a group of yachts under the guidance of a lead boat and skipper, who will decide where you sail for at least the first few days. The flotilla leader is there to help you and offer advice, but you’ll make the decisions on board yourself. It provides comforting support for novice sailors. Many people enjoy the social side of flotilla sailing and it is often a good choice for families.

Alternatively you may prefer bareboat charter where you charter a yacht yourself and you’re responsible for everything – fuel, food, route-planning and sailing the boat.

Whichever you choose, it’s nice to know that you have booked with a reputable company. Your first adventure alone at sea can be intimidating enough without worrying that your yacht will not be up to scratch or that the company will not offer good customer service.

Tuition is our core business, but we can help you to take your first steps skippering your own boat. We act as agents for several hand-picked companies and can get you competitive quotes for both flotilla and bareboat charter sailing holidays.

Tell us when you want to sail, how many people you will have on board, the size of yacht you are interested in and whether you are looking for a brand-new boat or something less expensive. All the companies we deal with maintain their yachts well and so you do not need to worry about taking a slightly older boat.

Assisted Sailing or a One-Day Refresher

To help you make a smooth transition from sailing student to fully fledged skipper, if you choose to charter bareboat in the Athens area, we can provide an instructor to help you. This can be either for the duration of your charter or simply on that first challenging day when you are trying to remember all you were taught.

The instructor will make sure that you understand where everything is on your boat and how it operates. You can practice boat-handling, Med-mooring or simply brush up on your sailing under an expert eye. You’ll probably find that after a day, your training will come back to you and you’ll be eager to continue the charter yourself.

If you lack confidence you can book the instructor for a few days or the whole week, depending upon availability.
