How Aegean Sailing School Came About

Just like many people who come on our sailing courses, we came to Greece to fulfil a dream. In our case, we wanted to spend a couple of years living on board our yacht. We enjoyed the life here so much that we decided to stay - at least until the 2004 Olympics. To support ourselves we started a skippered charter business and over the next few years enjoyed introducing others to the delights of this area.

Among our customers were many people who longed to sail independently. Several even dreamed of buying their own yacht and taking off for the Mediterranean. We always encouraged our clients to become involved in sailing the boat, and they in turn encouraged us to start offering formal tuition. We settled on the vibrant island of Aegina for our base and founded the first RYA recognised sailing school in the Athens area.

Today, we welcome hundreds of students every year - some coming to fulfil a life's ambition, some ready for the best holiday of their lives. Many have now sailed with us for several seasons and we welcome them back as old friends.

Although the school has grown, we've tried hard not to lose the personal service and relaxed atmosphere that our clients value. As you'd expect from our Instructors, the tuition is top-notch, and you will be encouraged to learn as much as you can. But you will also visit beautiful places, enjoy delicious food, and swim in turquoise waters. We've set up the school with a dual purpose. We're teaching people how to sail - and giving them a holiday they'll remember forever.
