Sailing Yachts

Our teaching yachts reflect the type of yacht that many people want to charter in this area. Yachts in the Aegean tend to be bigger than those you would find in northern Europe as larger boats are more comfortable in the short Mediterranean seas and in a warm climate.

All our teaching boats are inspected annually by the RYA. As well as meeting the exacting standards demanded by the RYA they also conform to the requirements of the Hellenic Registry for professional yachts. They carry all the latest safety and navigation equipment for use both during day and at night. You’ll find GPS plotter, EPIRB, GMDSS radio with separate battery, fire extinguishers, life jackets, life raft, and many other safety items on board.

Phoebe

Phoebe is a 2003 Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45.2. I've seen the Sun Odyssey 45.2 described as "the best charter yacht ever built" and "absolutely ideal for all levels of experience". We wouldn't argue with that. The yacht is a classic Jeanneau design, providing safe, comfortable performance-oriented cruising.

She sports twin wheels to provide good visibility and comfortable steering on all points of sail. Her in-mast furling mainsail is slightly flat-cut to aid the less experienced when bringing the sail in or out. The foresail is padded to help retain shape when reefed.

Her spacious cockpit features double doors at the transom that open out onto the swimming platform, complete with freshwater shower, and she's equipped with a bimini to keep the sun's rays off when required

Phoebe also has built-in air-conditioning and heating which will be appreciated by some, although these can only be used when shore power is available.

We particularly like her roomy, comfortable chart table area, one of the nicest we have ever seen. It is ideal when potential Day or Coastal Skippers are on board.

Her design allows the forward cabin to be converted into a large en-suite cabin for those who prefer to sail with a little more space and privacy. Groups and families will appreciate her four large double cabins.

Philip

Philip is a 2003 Bavaria 44 and a good match for Phoebe. The yacht is elegant and impressive with eye catching lines. The Bavaria 44 was the first Bavaria by J&J Designs, who were tasked with giving the range a sharper look and better performance.

The cockpit is very spacious with long benches and the coachroof slopes down forward of the mast and is wide enough to provide sunbathing room.

Philip features a fully battened mainsail with slab reefing , which many people prefer to in-mast reefing.

Down below Philip has a bright, comfortable, saloon that makes full use of the yacht’s generous beam, and a good sized galley and chart table.

There are four cabins with one containing bunk beds, making the yacht ideal for families with several children or for two friends to share a cabin on a course.

Both Phoebe and Philip are fitted with all the modern navigation and safety equipment that one would expect, including GMDSS radio, EPIRB, Navtex, GPS plotter etc.

Southern Cross

Southern Cross is a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 37, a smaller sister to Phoebe. She has proved very popular, both as a teaching yacht for couples and for those on their first bareboat experience.

She is available for private courses for up to four people - Competent Crew and/ or Day Skipper and also for bareboat charter - at least one person must hold an RYA Day Skipper certificate and at least one other must have sailing experience or Competent Crew
