You've experienced sailing as a crew member and now you want to learn to skipper the boat. Before you embark on a practical course you need sufficient theory to carry out the tasks you will be set.
This 4-day course is designed for those who have some crew experience, but don't have an RYA shore-based (theory) certificate. It's also a good introduction for those who have sailing and navigation theory but whose first language is not English. It is suitable for both sail and power.
You don't have to be a would-be skipper to attend - if your partner wants to skipper and you want to crew you can still both to do the course. It will make you a very well-informed crew member.
You'll spend four days at a hotel near Aegina town, learning about theory: basic navigation concepts, chartwork, pilotage and passage planning, collision regulations, buoyage, lights, and so on. This is not a full RYA Shorebased course as we do not cover tidal theory, but it covers everything you will need to sail in the Mediterranean.
It serves as an excellent basis for our practical courses which you can take immediately after the theory course.
