This is a very popular option as it makes the most of a two-week holiday. You'll return to work refreshed and brandishing a handful of certificates of competence in your new skills

Joining your yacht on Sunday, you spend the first five days taking a Competent Crew course but your instructor will also introduce you to simple navigation and chartwork.

You'll follow this with a weekend studying navigation and seamanship onshore. You'll move ashore and stay in a hotel so you can study in comfort rather than on a swaying boat. This gives you a chance to recharge your batteries after a week at sea and maybe to catch up on doing some laundry ...

Returning to the yacht on Sunday night you will complete your RYA Day Skipper course over the next five days. You'll put into practice what you have studied, including Med-mooring. We believe that if you first learn the theory, then you'll make a better job of doing it for real.

If you are coming on a private course with friends or family it's possible to book a full 12 days sailing, taking the Essential Navigation course online before you come to us. This can be a better choice if you'll have children with you. Please contact us if you are interested in this option.

COURSE ESSENTIALS

PREREQUISITES:None but sailing or boating experience is helpful and will increase your chance of passing all three levels of course. LENGTH: 12 days (Monday - Friday of following week with arrival Sunday evening). PRICE: 2420 € / £2052 June-September; 2060€ / £1746 other months. 10% discount available for 2 people sharing a hotel room and cabin on the yacht. PRICE INCLUDES:

Accommodation on board one of our big, comfortable teaching yachts during the practical parts of the course. You will get a single cabin if you are coming alone; we don't expect you to share with someone you don't know.
Hotel room for Friday and Saturday nights. In the summer we use a hotel with either a swimming pool or close to a beach.
All taxes, VAT, and yacht expenses, including mooring dues, fuel, water, electricity.
Tuition from a fully qualified RYA instructor.
RYA Day Skipper Practical course book. You can arrange to have the course book sent to you before your course if you wish.
RYA Day Skipper Practical photo-ID certificate for those who successfully pass the course.
Freshly laundered linen & towels and decent pillows for a good night's sleep.
Free loan of breathable, waterproof jackets if you come in the cooler months.
Tasty food on board the yacht for breakfasts & lunches.

ADD A RADIO OPERATOR'S COURSE TO BE READY FOR CHARTERING.

Some countries now demand that yacht skippers have a radio licence in addition to their skipper's licence.
