RYA Powerboat Level 2 - National Powerboat Course
The RYA Powerboat 2 syllabus includes both practical exercises and theoretical work. Over the years that we've run the course we've found most people don't want to spend time sitting in a classroom here studying theory; they prefer to be out on the water.
We now specify that all students must have a knowledge of basic navigation and chart work, buoyage, and the collision regulations before taking the course. To make it easy to gain the required knowledge we include the online RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship course at a special reduced price. You study this at home in your own time (6 - 10 hours) and then come to us for the practical work. This means you have more time to practice manoevres and, in summer, to anchor for a swim. We can also accept people on this course without having to complete RYA Powerboat Level 1.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
Powerboat Level 2 is a two day course in boat handling and seamanship. It covers launching and recovery and being towed, You'll learn basic boat handling - starting/stopping, steering controls, leaving and coming alongside, together with the 'rules of the road' for boat users and some basic knots. The course will also cover personal safety afloat.
The course is run on our 6.5m RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) and includes making a planned passage on the second day, with stops at a couple of lovely bays. Enjoy yourself visiting parts of the island that others cannot reach.
